Citizenship program in Dominica
Dominica's Citizenship by Investment program is defined in regulations published pursuant to Article 101 of the Constitution and Articles 8 and 20 (1) of the Citizenship Act.
The latest amendment was made on 1 December 2016 to Law no. 38 of 2016. Through this program, a foreign national who makes an economic contribution in the form of a donation to the government's Economic Diversification Fund, or a real estate investment, can become a citizen of Dominica.
The entity that handles applications and enforces regulations is the Dominica Citizenship by Investment Unit (CBIU), and the granting of citizenship is at the sole discretion of the CBIU director and senior examiners.
- US$100,000 for the primary applicant.
- US$175,000 for the primary applicant and spouse.
- US$200,000 for the primary applicant with up to three dependents (spouse and 2 children under 18).
- US$25,000 for each additional dependent (children aged 18-25 and parents/grandparents over 65).
The funds are used for public and private projects such as: construction of schools, renovation of hospitals, construction of a national sports stadium, promotion of the offshore sector, tourism, information technology and agriculture.
Investment in an approved real estate project
- Minimum investment of USD 200,000 in a real estate project approved by the Government of Grenada, to be maintained for a minimum of 3 years.
If the Real Estate option is chosen, the following government taxes will apply:
- US$25,000 for the primary applicant.
- US$35,000 for a family of up to 4 (including the primary applicant).
- US$50,000 for a family of up to 6 (including the main applicant).
- US$70,000 for a family of 7 or more (including the primary applicant).
Requirements
- The main applicant must be at least 18 years old.
- The principal applicant must demonstrate that he has sufficient funds to make the required investment and demonstrate the legal source of those funds. – The main applicant and dependents do not suffer from communicable diseases and/or serious health problems.
- Clean Criminal Record
- Not be the subject of a criminal investigation.
- Not to be considered a potential national security risk.
- Do not engage in any activity that may bring Dominica into disrepute.
