Antigua and Barbuda is a Central American country and a member of the Commonwealth and CARICOM.

Antigua and Barbuda passport holders can enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 150 countries, including Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the EU's Schengen states.

Consisting of two main islands and several small islands in the eastern Caribbean Sea, the country is located in the Lesser Antilles and borders the island of Guadeloupe to the south, Montserrat to the southwest, Saint Kitts and Nevis to the west, and Saint Barthélemy to the northwest.

It has a population of 92,000. Saint John, located on the island of Antigua, is its capital, its most populous city, and its main port. Its official currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar (XCD), which is pegged to the US dollar at a ratio of 2.7:1.

Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship Program

Antigua and Barbuda offers a citizenship-by-investment program, which is governed by the Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Act of 2014, as amended in 2016. Under this program, individuals who make a financial contribution to the country can become citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, along with their family members.

Donation to the National Development Fund (NDF)

  • Non-refundable contribution of USD 100,000 to the National Development Fund (NDF) for a family of 4 or less
    + Processing fee of $25,000
  • Non-refundable contribution of USD 125,000 to the National Development Fund (NDF) for a family of 5 or more.
    + US$15,000 processing fee for each additional employee

Investment in an approved real estate project

  • Investment of USD 400,000 in an approved real estate project, which must be maintained for at least 5 years after obtaining citizenship.
  • For a single applicant, or a family of 4 or less: Processing fee of US$50,000
  • For a family of 5 or more: Processing fee of US$15,000 for each additional dependent

Investment in an eligible business

  • Investment of USD 1,500,000 in an eligible business as a sole investor, or
  • Joint investment of US$5,000,000, participated by at least 2 persons and each person individually investing at least US$400,000.

Requirements

  • The primary applicant must be over 18 years of age.
  • The primary applicant and dependents do not suffer from any communicable disease and/or serious health problems.
  • Not to have been convicted in any country of a crime, involving a prison sentence exceeding six months, unless he has received a free pardon.
  • Not be the subject of a criminal investigation.
  • Not be a potential risk to the national security of Antigua and Barbuda or any other country.
  • Not to be involved in any activity that might bring the country into disrepute.
  • Not having been denied a visa for a country to which Antigua and Barbuda travel is visa-free.
  • After obtaining citizenship, the new citizen must spend 5 days in the country during the first 5 years to maintain citizenship.
  • Citizens of the restricted countries listed below are eligible to apply to the Antigua and Barbuda CIP if they migrated before reaching the age of majority and/or have maintained permanent residence for at least 10 years in Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, or the United Arab Emirates, and do not maintain economic ties with any restricted country.
